I bought this book from Amazon directly and never saw it "live" in a bookstore. My warning - it is a very small book. It's 70 pages long, but the font is huge and most of the pages are half empty. They really tried to make it look bigger at least at the first glance - didn't help, though.The content is OK, but you can read a Wikipedia article on OAuth instead of this book. It should have been a chapter in a book on security; by itself it looked like a joke when I got it in the mail.I am giving it 3 stars, not less, because, once again, the content is OK and it does give you OAuth overview. No code examples, just diagrams and HTTP requests, but that was enough for me. However, I still feel a bit stupid for actually paying money on something I could read up on the Internet for free.
When you have a book solely focused on explaining one narrowly defined concept, the book should knock it out of the park. This one doesn't. It has too major flaws:1) Lack of examples. The author discusses OAuth mainly in abstract terms. It would be helpful to describe the processes in concrete terms, using examples of real applications that the reader has probably used, and2) Never answers the "why?" question. The described processes in the book seem a bit convoluted; I'm sure there's a reason for it, but the author never explains.Overall, I'm not sure that I learned anything useful.
A cheat sheet book to quickly understand Oauth, really helped me to move forward, now I read the rfc and don't get scared because of so much jibber jabber. I'm putting 4 stars because I found 2 errors and I could never download the promised oauth cheat sheet from the page
Concise description of the OAUTH 2.0 use-cases and workflow oriented with excellent diagrams.
There are quite some good publications on OAuth 2.0 and this introduction written by Matthias Biehl is one of the best.If you want to get up to speed on OAuth quickly and don't want to wade through a 300+ page book, you cannot go wrong with this book.The diagrams it contains are very helpful in grasping the overall concepts.If I could give it 6 stars, I would.In short: it's a gem.
I thought this was a very good book to explain the principles of OAUTH2. What is helpful is the way the author describes OAUTH and provides very clear explanations and a helpful cheat sheet. Recommended to anyone who is interested in using OAUTH on any federation integration project.
Great little book. I'm tired of slogging through 500+ pages on a subject that I can learn in less than 100.
Quick read on the basics of OAuth. Nice overview and easy to read and understand. I got all 5 books in the series as I wanted to learn more about RESTful API design.
